The City Secretary serves as the Elections Official for the City of Big Spring.

CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD NOW OPEN

The candidate filing period for open Big Spring City Council positions opens today, January 14, 2026.

• Open Districts: District One and District Three
• Final Day to File: February 13, 2026

Individuals interested in serving their community are encouraged to file for candidacy within the filing period. Candidate filing forms are available online or in person at the City Secretary’s Office, located in City Hall, 310 Nolan Street. Please note: All completed forms must be filed with the City Secretary’s Office by 5 p.m. on February 13, 2026.

CANDIDATE CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS

The Texas Election Code Title 15 covers the recordkeeping, reporting, and public posting requirements for campaign and financial reports for various County officeholders and also candidates for office.

The City of Big Spring believes that all citizens are served by government transparency and is making these reports available online not only to comply with the law, but also to exceed the requirements and provide the public with information in a timely and easily accessible format.
