2015 Star Employees

The Big Spring City Council wishes to give special thanks and recognition to our Star Employees. Each one of you has proven to be a valuable asset to the City of Big Spring and we congratulate you on a job well done.

February 2015 - Officer Willie Wright, Jr.


One afternoon, while on duty, Officer Wright observed a group of young children playing outside. Officer Wright stopped and spent time with this group of young citizens, answering their questions and even playing football with them.

A police officer's job of law enforcement and crime prevention includes serving as a role model and protector for the children in our community. It is important for children to learn about police officers and to perceive police officers as friends and trusted adults.

Officer Wright took the time to explain the details of a police officer's job in an effort to help them understand how officers will protect and take care of their community and it's citizens. He went beyond that which would normally be expected and, in doing so, he distinguished himself and brought credit to the Big Spring Police Department. His actions had a tremendous effect on those young citizens, and on our community.
